SPORTS & ENTERTAINMNENT MARKETING AND MEDIA PROFESSIONALS COLLIDE TO LAUNCH NEW RADIO PROGRAM, “UPON FURTHER REVIEW”
Todd Lieman and Tom Dittmann Bring More Than 30 Years of Combined Sports & Entertainment Experience to Sirius Satellite Radio
San Francisco – Sports and entertainment industry veterans, Todd Lieman and Tom Dittmann, have teamed together to create a new radio program, Upon Further Review. The program, which will air Saturdays, 10 – 11 AM (Pacific) on Sirius Satellite Radio (Channel 122) and is distributed by the Sports Byline USA Broadcast Network, will look back at the week in sports and entertainment. Upon Further Review will be a guest-driven program. Each week, Lieman and Dittmann will invite a variety of characters from the sports and entertainment worlds into the studio. Upon Further Review will debut on Saturday, February 5, 2005.
“I’m confident that we will interview unique guests and bring perhaps a different angle to the big stories of the day and week,” said Lieman. “Every sports radio program will interview the so-called experts to break-down the major events like the Super Bowl or Final Four. We’ll obviously cover those events, but we won’t interview the same guest as every other show. We hope to look at these events from unusual angles.”
Upon Further Review will tap into the hosts’ 30-plus years of sports and entertainment experiences. Dittmann and Lieman have worked on and attended the world’s largest events like the World Cup, Super Bowl, Olympics and Rose Bowl. They have worked around the most renowned athletes and entertainers, and have also helped craft the sports and entertainment strategies of the world’s largest consumer brands. Both are frequent speakers about the industries, with Lieman most recently sitting on a sports marketing panel at the University of California, Berkeley, and lecturing at the University of Southern California.
“Because of our varied backgrounds, we have an interesting list of resources from which to tap,” explained Dittmann. “Instead of interviewing the golf writer from USA Today, we’ll interview an expert on professional sandbaggers. Instead of the NFL broadcaster, we’ll have a retired NFL referee. We’ll cover the events and news for our listeners, but they won’t hear the same stories. We hope it’s a fresh approach that helps bring fans more fascinating information. Frankly, there are enough shows that do the X’s and O’s thing.”
Lieman and Dittmann will also create original features that include:
-Obscure Sports Report
- My Favorite Products
- They’re Just Like Us
- Chix Pix
- You Can Call Me Ray
- Review Preview
- Wanna Bet?
- Now…For Something Completely Unrelated
- Bad Menu Descriptions
“While some of these features are more obvious as to their content, we think we’ve developed some entertaining sketches that will keep sports and entertainment in perspective,” said Lieman. “We also look forward to our audience calling the program.”
In addition to the interviews and sketches, which include a poem to conclude every show, branded content segments will be produced for the program’s corporate partners. To take advantage of this opportunity, a variety of growing organizations have signed on as Upon Further Review “founding partners,” including:

“We could not be more thrilled by the response we’ve received from our founding partners,” said Lieman. “We’re confident that we can develop and execute marketing and promotional programs that help drive consumer traffic and sales for each of our partners. As Upon Further Review grows, so will each of these young companies.”
